Goodbye, February

I’m rather glad to check another month off on the countdown to Spring. Just a few more hours left until… March! March, when everything starts to get better. Sort of. We’re supposed to get 3-8 inches of snow this weekend.

Reed and Lena are still munching on their Valentine’s Day candy. She was playing with her candy hearts, organizing them, then messing up her groups.

Gus has been handling Reed and Lena eating candy around him everyday pretty well. He reacts to Red Dye 40, so even if they wanted to share with him, I wouldn’t let them. He doesn’t entirely get that candy is superior to other food yet, so he hasn’t been bothered by it. But, today, he came over to her while she was eating and said “I hungry, Vya. I hungry.”

February Photo a Day. I never got out to do more star photography, unfortunately. There are also a few instagram pictures, but that’s what it comes down to sometimes.

What a Week

“It’s been a long week,” I thought. . . and then I realized it was Tuesday.

That about sums it up.

I found this new app “The Bible App for Kids”. I don’t usually download a lot of kids stuff and let my kids play with my phone often, but this is a cool app.

It has simple Bible stories broken down with a bit of text and a short game/animation.

It’s free, so I downloaded it out of curiosity, but my kids really like it. The animations are cute and for young kids who don’t play a lot of digital games, they’re perfect.

I told Gus that he could come and sit next to me while I worked and play with my phone. And this quickly happened.

These two. Sometimes, they act like friends/siblings and other times, she mothers him.

He asks about her as soon as we drop her off at school in the morning. “Vya school?”

And, here she is, just being cute.

Thawing Out

The weather has warmed up a bit here. All of that snow is melting, and I am happy.

Yesterday, I took the dogs out to the dog park. If you’ve ever been to a dog park most places… well, our dog park is not like that. 30 acres of fields and woods. No fences. This picture about sums it up.

I came home to find my children up in a tree. I love this. Outside, climbing, together.

Toddlers are fast. Gus especially.

This is not a wonderful picture, but he’s been doing this a lot lately. Driving his cars on the dogs. Our dogs are so good with him.

Again, toddlers are fast. I wanted to snap a picture of him giving a hug to Lena, but I could barely take it before he was gone. When I asked him to hug her again, he gave me this face.

If you’re wondering why he really needs his face wiped off, I’ll tell you one more time: toddlers are fast.

Valentine’s Day

We didn’t make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day. Of course, the kids have a little party at school, which we got Valentine’s Day cards for. They wrote the names on all of their cards themselves, which was good, but did require a bit of hand holding.

I made this for Aaron for Valentine’s Day. I was inspired by some similar items I saw on Etsy like this and this, but it was a very last minute decision to make it, and I didn’t want to spend much money. I actually think it was good it was so last minute, because I ended up being able to figure it out with stuff we already had. Don’t study the map in too much detail, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Gus-penders

Gus has a problem with his pants falling down. He’s just skinny, healthy, but skinny. I recently put an SOS out on Facebook and while I got a ton of great ideas (including a brand of pants that I’ve found actually fit him), everyone demanded that we try suspenders.

Next up on the mini-Jack Harness shopping list: long trench coat and vortex manipulator.

… that was a Doctor Who/Torchwood joke for those of who are scratching your heads.

I feel like this picture sums up parenting a 3yo. Underfoot.
