I completed a Photo 365 from October 2013 to September 2014, meaning that I took one photo every day for a year.
My initial goals for the entire year were:
- Practice composition, particularly in candid shots
- Focus on getting images right SOOC (straight out of camera)
There are many days when this project is a joy, but there are also days when it is difficult and I took the simplest snap just to get it done– particularly when I had the stomach flu! This is a project which truly forces growth, as you cannot take a photo every day for an entire year without learning something.
Below are my photo calendars showing a small thumbnail of the photos that I took each day. Many of the these photos you will also find in blog posts from the same time. You can click on the calendars to be taken to that month’s blog posts.
Hey there!
What’s the secret to making it this far in a Project 365 with 3 kids?
I ask because my wife and I are in the process of creating a new feature at The Albums to help our members begin and finish a Project 365.
I’d say a bit of dedication and also the understanding that not every day’s picture must be great or even good. There have been days when I’ve been able to try something new, and there have been days when the best I can muster is an iPhone shot. Even with the bad days, I’ve learned a ton and I’m proud of what I’ve been able to document.
Thanks for sharing Molly! Looks like your summer is off to a great start!
We’ve finished up our interviews and the #1 thing we have heard is don’t be too hard on yourself.
We are going to do a blog post or two on starting a successful Project 365, would it be ok if we quote you and link to your project?
PS we just started an Instagram account for daily photo prompts if you are looking for some inspiration stop on by http://instagram.com/thealbumsco
Hi, Andrew,
Yes, that’s fine with me. Thank you for asking! I’ll definitely be following you on Instagram.
Awesome thanks! I’ll let you know when we post. One more question…do you make your image collection each month or does flickr do that for you?
See you on Instagram!
I make them myself in Photoshop, but there is an iOS app that will do it for you. Not sure what it is called, though.
I see great monetizing potential on your site. I browse your site often on my smartphone and don’t see any ads.
You can monetize all your mobile traffic very easily just by
installing simple wordpress plugin, just search in google for – Dremosny’s mobile ads
