Cat, anyone?

I am having a bit of a hard time writing the final post… not sure why, just having difficulty finding the words. So, you all must wait until tomorrow. How about some photos in the mean time?

We went to play at a friend’s house. She has three girls. Reed loved this princess bike and also came downstairs at one point with a funny purple clown hat on, with a tiara over it! It was adorable. Thanks for having us over, Sarah, Erin, Avery and Ember!

This is from 2 weeks ago, when my mom was here. We went over to Manhattan, Kansas to Konza Prairie and went on a hike. Everyone really enjoyed it.

How cute are these two together? This is over at Penguin Park in Kansas City, which is a fun park with lots of playground equipment.

Untitled
One of the fun things at Penguin Park. He is really enjoying it, right?

Can you read his lips here? “Off!”

Does anyone want a cat? Yes, I am serious. He is adorable and silly, but we can’t keep him and it is supposed to get down to 25 later this week! 1) I am allergic. 2) One of our dogs would eat him, seriously. Somebody, please?

Do you see the new twitter box to the right? I am going to share all of the funny things Reed says.  I stole this idea from my friend Rosemary, who just started tweeting the funny things her son Jonah says. Like this one from the other day…
Me: “Lena, is it okay if we call you Scarlett?”
Lena: “Yes!”
Reed: “I want to be called God.”

Something to Share…

We have something to share with you, but Reed and Lena wanted to share it with you themselves.

Lena sure is getting big, huh?

No, Lena, that’s not why you are wearing that shirt…

Wait, Mama, why am I wearing this shirt?!

You’re getting another sister!

A sister?!?

Really, a sister?!?

AHHHH!

TAXI!!!

(Details to come!)

Sweet Lena

Lena had a really good day today. I heard her ask at least twice, “I need to potty please.” Normally, she just waits until we ask her, just says “potty” or cries and screams. We were very proud of her. She also seems to want less help in the bathroom, which is totally fine with us. I didn’t think she was ready to be independent, but I am happy to follow her lead and let her do as much for herself as she wants.

I went out for a bit and when I left, she smiled and told me goodbye. When I got back, she ran up to me and gave me a hug. I scooped her up and she gave me a big hug and some kisses. I asked if I could put her down so I could put the groceries away and she told me “nopes.” She was okay with being passed back and forth between Aaron and me. Eventually, after maybe 5 minutes of this, she was ready to go play. All of those interactions seem very healthy to me. Letting me go happily, but being very happy to see me and wanting my attention when I got home, that seem very healthy to me.

When I got up from dinner to get her some more food, she asked me for a hug. I gave her a hug and she didn’t want to let me go. I reminded her that I needed to go eat and she told me that this was okay, if I’d give her a kiss.

I am not sure what got into her today, but we sure enjoyed it! She did get some extra one-on-one time with us today. Reed was NOT having a good day and took a nap, while Lena got some time on her tricycle and got to go to the playground with Papa.

I don’t expect tomorrow to go as well. These next couple of weeks are going to be rather busy with things going on and guests, but hopefully she will keep feeling secure and keep up good behavior.

Cute

This is one of the games I play with both kids when they are grumpy. It looks like it worked really well, right? Well, as soon as I shut the camera off, she started crying again.

This is where we were going… to take the dogs for a walk on the levee. One of the few easy outings we can do right now.

Superboy! He calls this his “Incredibles” shirt. He loves the Incredibles, but has no idea who Superman is.

I really wanted to draw on his cast… with one thing in mind!

Reed shows you what else I drew and tells you about having a cast on his leg.

Someone else wanted me to draw on her. How could I resist? Doesn’t she make a cute little tattooed girl?

Lena and I love to share kisses. Sometimes, I throw in a raspberry. Well, I was putting her in bed, giving her lots of goodnight kisses and she was returning them and then surprise… a raspberry on my cheek! She figured out how to give raspberries and it is too cute. She is just too stinkin’ cute when she wants to be.

The Cast and the Eye Patch

Reed got his cast on today… yay! He has the doctor’s permission to walk on it as much as he wants. Unfortunately, as you can see in the photo below, that is easier said than done. I have been encouraging him to move however he can and he is not so sure about that. Unless he really figures out his mobility, I don’t think he will go back to preschool until the cast is off… which is in just 3 WEEKS! Yay! When Aaron first took him to the ER, ten days ago, they said 6-8 weeks, so 4 weeks total is a huge improvement. He gets it off on 10/10!

Lena has been doing pretty well lately. Our church had a picnic and lake baptism this past Sunday. It was a nice time all around, but what I really noticed was how connected I felt with Lena. I was holding her during the service and it started to get a bit chilly. She just leaned into me and put her head on my shoulder. I loved that.

We are trying to figure out a trip to the East Coast. We had actually planned one leaving this Wednesday, but we cancelled it with Reed’s broken leg. We will be doing lots of fun things while we are there, and did not want him to feel left out. I am SO looking forward to this trip, whenever it happens. We planned this trip to see my family in Pennsylvania, but we will have the opportunity to connect with a lot of people along the drive and while we are there.
