Gus’s Turn

It was Gus’s turn to grab the Advent card. He had no clue which to take, so Lena had to help.

This is his cheese face. SO happy to have his turn. I let him hang onto the envelope after I removed the paper inside and he stared at it with great fascination.

Their pictures tonight were a bit more… imaginative. Experimental? Something like that.

Reed started by drawing Moses with a staff, but he didn’t like that. So, he changed it to God holding a dead snake. Points for unintended symbolism.  Lena liked the reptilian vibe, so she drew a boy with a turtle. Admittedly having nothing to do with the scripture we just read. Um, that’s cool, too?

I should have also taken a picture of Gus with his picture, which is definitely more… open to interpretation. I’m just impressed that he actually sat down with us for awhile and played with markers.

December First

I originally wanted to learn photography to document my kids’ childhood better, but now that I have a bit of knowledge, I’ve found that I really love landscape photography. I still have much to learn, but I try to get out with my camera as often as I can.

Today was our last day visiting Aaron’s family, at their farm. When we woke up this morning, the fog was intense. So, the first opportunity I got, I headed out with my camera.

When I came back in, breakfast was done and Reed and Lena were playing the card game “war” with Aaron. Gus was clearly in a mood.

We came back home early in the day. The first of December is also the first day that we are using our Advent Calendar, of course. Today’s card was the one that I showed in the blog post– write cards for military service members. A friend shared this link from the Red Cross.

Tomatoes in Late November

Aaron’s family has a “hoophouse”, a type of greenhouse where they can grow some produce year round. The tomatoes are really thriving in there. We went out today to take a look and the kids helped their uncle pick some.

In case you wondered what it looks like at night…

And, if you look really closely in this one, you’ll notice a ghost dog.

P.S. I didn’t entirely forget about Imperfect Fridays, today. But, I did forget to take a picture for it! I will share that I got one of my nicer pairs of shoes completely muddy and gross today. Mud on the outside AND inside. I wore them to walk the dogs in a field, because they were all I had, and the last part of my walk was incredibly muddy.

This was before they got muddy today, but you can see where this is going. And, just so you know how weird I am, I often take photos of my shoes while I’m out on walks.
