Gusasaurus

Hoodie up, and he is a dinosaur, ready to attack.

Hoodie down and he is my sweet Gus.

He’d dash behind the chair and jump out as his alter-ego.

In hysterics that I seemed surprised.

We’ve had a few silly talks recently which remind me how much he is growing up…

[At a store]
Gus: What’s dat, mama?
Me: Something for big boys.
Gus: I need dat.

[Discussing potty learning]
Gus: Why, mama?
Me: That’s what big kids do.
Gus: I nap? I legos?
…already thinking of other things big boys get to do… or avoid.

And a silly one…

[Lena flings open the bathroom door]
Lena: Hello!
Gus: How YOU doin?

Yes, growing up. But those baby-like features that seems so evident in profile? I adore them.

I realized that I never asked Reed his birthday questions, so we did that this weekend.

1. What is your favorite color? Black… and orange

2. What is your favorite toy? Legos

3. What is your favorite fruit? Grapes

4. What is your favorite tv show? Ninjagos

5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Grilled Cheese

6. What is your favorite outfit? Ninja clothes

7. What is your favorite game? Tag

8. What is your favorite snack? Cheese-its

9. What is your favorite animal? Tiger

10. What is your favorite song? Music we listen to when we sleep

11. What is your favorite book? Lego books

12. Who is your best friend? Jack and sam

13. What is your favorite special treat? Cake

14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Catching bugs

15. What is your favorite drink? Normal water

16. What is your favorite holiday? Fourth of July “Do you know what happens on the Fourth of July?” [Laughter] No “When we went to see the fireworks with your cousins… is that still your favorite?” Yeah

17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Well, I don’t really take that much stuff in bed… um… well, that would be a monkey

18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Chocolate muffin

Gus meets Playdough

It’s been awhile since we’ve had playdough in our house. I had to pack up some of the larger toys awhile ago, and the giant box of play dough toys was among that. Gus might have played with play dough before that, or possibly at his grandparents’ house. Or, this might have been his introduction.

It was a sticky one. The kids wanted to help me make it.

But, it was still VERY sticky by the time they got it.

The boys did not last long. Neither of them is fond of sticky.

His little face reminds me of his brother’s face when we tried to bake cookies almost 3 years ago…
